Comcast

I can't Connect to Comcast

I can't connect to the Internet and I use Comcast.

Comcast uses a special router to connect you to the coax in your office (this is the same type of cable used in your home for cable television). This router can be one of many different brands but here are some of the basics to look for to see if you are connected.

  1. Check the router provided by Comcast for a WAN light. It should be green or flashing green intermittently. If it flickers at a high rate (more than 5 times a second) for more than 15 seconds at a time then it may be one of the following:
    1. You or someone on your network is downloading/uploading large files over the Internet. Check with others in your office to see if that is the case.
    2. You or someone on your network is using streaming video r streaming audio. Check with others on your network to see if this is the case. We strongly recommend against the use of streaming video and audio in the workplace as this can significantly impair your performance using the Internet, sharing files across your private network and printing large documents.
    3. You or someone on your networking might have a virus or trojan. In that case make sure your Antivirus program is up to date. For more help contact us at help@ithandyman.com.
  2. If the light is red or not lit you should turn off the equipment and turn it back on. For some equipment you may need to physically pull the power cord (this will not harm the equipment). Also allow about 30 seconds before turning the equipment back on or plugging it back in.
  3. After about 5 minutes if the WAN light is red or is not lit up then you need to contact Comcast for further assistance. Call Comcast at:

    1-800-COMCAST (1-800-266-2278)

If you WAN light is green and you still are having issue connecting to the Internet please contact us at help@ithandyman.com or call 303.223.7768 option1.
